How to Maintain Top-Notch Braces this Halloween

Posted .

Your braces need maintenance on a regular basis, especially this Halloween. So, to help you keep your orthodontic appliance in tip-top shape before and after you trick or treat, our Champion Orthodontics team recommends staying away from the sticky, gooey, and chewy treats and by doing the following things:

-Brush carefully: It’s important to remove food and candy particles from your braces on a regular basis. You can do so with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. If a soft-bristled toothbrush doesn’t do the job, consider using an orthodontic toothbrush with V-shaped bristles.

-Brush between your brackets: Make sure to brush between your brackets. You can do so with an interdental toothbrush.

-Don’t forget to floss: Flossing is vital for your oral health, especially during Halloween. So, make sure to floss between your teeth at least once a day. If you’re having trouble doing so, you can use a floss threader or special stiff-tipped floss.

-Attend your adjustment appointments: Do your best to stay on track with your adjustment appointments. This will help you work toward a beautiful smile this Halloween. We also recommend visiting your dentist if you’re due for a six month checkup. This appointment will help you deeply clean your smile.
