Your braces were designed to fix alignment issues with your teeth, but that only works if they are adjusted regularly. In fact, every four to six weeks you will need to return to Champion Orthodontics to have your braces tightened. This will apply progressive tension to the periodontal ligaments that anchor your teeth into their sockets.
Should you miss an adjustment session, it will probably increase the time it takes to properly correct the alignment of your teeth. If you are aware of time conflicts with your next appointment, be sure to call and reschedule within the 4 to 6 week window.
Don’t be alarmed if a spacer feels loose or falls out before your next adjustment. If this occurs, please call our clinic for further advice. In many situations the best solution is to book an earlier adjustment session.
During your adjustment, please tell Dr. Ronald Champion about any areas of concern. This will help determine any needed adjustments or replace the problematic piece of orthodontic hardware.
You’ll also want to tell Dr. Ronald Champion about any oral hygiene concerns you may have. Many of these issues can be fixed by using a special oral hygiene tool such as a floss threader, interdental brush, or an oral irrigator such as a Waterpik®.
